Tags. Love them.

Tag a song: Great if you are listening to the radio and didn’t here the dj say the name and artist of the song. Shazam! there you go for 3,99$.
Tag a location: Mappyfriends let’s you tag a location so your friends can find it later, it’s free and could grow to be the greatest travel tool ever!

Tag food. Will he or will he not get it ready in time? My friend Gary Reloj is on his own last name to get his app up and running, tagging his favorite treats in New York City for the “business class”.

It’s raining. It’s Holland.
Yet this week is a memorable one: on Thursday thousands and thousands of boats including 50 or so Tall Ships are arriving in Amsterdam for SAIL 2010. A spectacle worth traveling for, or in my case, coming ‘home’ for. The event is only once every five years, you can visit the ships, listen to performances, walk around and witness fireworks. Awesom-o!

Latin America is coming to New York. I am organizing an event next week Thursday in New York on South America and the development of the IT sector in Argentina in particular. A lot of opportunity still lies for grabs in these countries, where the culture and attitude of people, when managed well, can result in beuatiful results. Come and join me and register at Palermo Valley New York for free!

So I missed my flight!? Well, that is because I like it here. This city has a lot to offer, especially in the area of making new (business) contacts and experiencing life in the center of the World. Because that’s what it is. I asked a couple of New Yorkers what it is that they like about their city, and their answer is mainly that it has everything: Yoga, basketball, exclusive restaurants, fancy nightclubs, shakeshack, baseball, water, events, concerts in the park or Times Square, Soho shopping, and all nationalities in the world.
They are right. Now, gotta work on my VISA (both of them…).

This weekend was a lot of fun! Location: New York Startupweekend (nyc.startupweekend.com). In 48 hours we saw our idea through from conception to auction and I got away with the prize: a dinner date with Janice. And that all for Charity (Water)! Our pitch, which I will post later as well, was received with laughter, interest and above all, engagement. This is promising ladies, go on and get your own Mantrophy! www.mantrophy.com

It’s been almost a month, and I am getting into the New York rhythm. Things go fast here, and there is always a lot to do. Of course from my liberated position as an entrepreneur I can still find time for the gym and meeting new people. But will that change when I reach two months? Will my novelty to the city start to faint and attention redirect itself? I don’t know. People have been very friendly so far, not the New Yorkean battitude that one would expect.
So would I like to live here? Yes, actually, I would love to. The only thing of course is that it is nice to dream, but the American Dream is not cheap! (ask Homer!) Well, if you can make it here, I guess… Keep on trucking.

It ain’t cheap!

Oh man, oh man, I love this place! And I suddenly realised why. In this city anything is possible, but not only that, anything is likely to happen! Random shit just seems to keep happening to me here. New people, new places, crazy nights out and random meetings, it just doesn’t end. The other day I was at the Standard when I got invited to be auctioned by www.manthropy.com. Then yet another day I get invited to rooftop party and drinking at the Marquee. Just a lot of outgoing people trying to live their dream, if only for a little while. What an energy!

Khan. I just saw this movie and can highly recommend it. I don’t know nothing about Acadamy Awards or Golden Globes but this sure is material. And the societal problems that are highlighted are very, very real. A must see for everyone I think. The thing that struck me the most is that modern western society has only two time references now: the birth of Christ and 911…
